2. Emergency Warning

Guinea pigs can decline within hours. Contact an emergency exotic-animal veterinarian immediately if your guinea pig shows any of the following:

Not eating or not passing droppings for more than 12 hours (possible life-threatening GI stasis)
Difficulty breathing, rapid or noisy breathing, or a blue tinge to the lips or tongue
Drooling or slobbering, difficulty chewing, or a wet, chin-soiled face
Seizures, convulsions, collapse, severe weakness, or loss of balance
Bleeding, injury, a suspected fracture, or an eye that is bulging, cloudy or held shut
Bloating, or a suddenly swollen, tight abdomen with pain
Not urinating, or blood in the urine
Problems during or after pregnancy or birth, including straining without delivery, a retained baby, or a mother rejecting her young
Severe diarrhea, extreme coldness, or unresponsiveness

Do not wait for the situation to improve on its own. Find emergency exotic-pet veterinary care now on our veterinary navigation page, and call ahead so the clinic can prepare. If you cannot reach an exotic-animal clinic, contact the nearest emergency animal hospital.

3. No Live Animal Sales

CavyNest is an education-only project. Neither this website nor its operator participates in any sale of live guinea pigs, breeding arrangements or matchmaking, price brokerage, wholesale, or pet-trade intermediation. We do not maintain listings of animals for sale, we do not accept commissions for connecting buyers and breeders, and no article or tool on this site constitutes an offer to sell or a solicitation to buy live animals. Any content mentioning breeds, litters, prices or sources is presented strictly for educational context. Please adopt through reputable rescues or responsible breeders, and have any new animal examined by a veterinarian.

4. Affiliate and Advertising Disclosure

7. User-Submitted and Local Data

CavyNest has no login system and no server-side storage of your records. Favorites you save and everything you enter into on-page tools (such as weight records, the cost calculator and vitamin C tracking) is stored locally in your own browser using localStorage. It is never uploaded to us, and clearing your browser data removes it. Data you choose to send by email is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.
