Privacy Policy

CavyNest (available at cavynest.com, referred to as "we", "us" or "our") is a purely informational, static website dedicated to public education about guinea pig (cavy) care, behavior, nutrition, health awareness and responsible ownership. We do not sell animals or products, we do not operate user accounts or membership systems, and you do not need to register or provide personal information to read our articles or use our on-page tools.

The site is maintained by an independent operator. If you have any question about this Privacy Policy, or wish to exercise a legal right described below, you can contact us at zjp133@outlook.com. We do not operate a telephone support center; email is the primary and most reliable channel. Because we do not hold accounts, please include enough context (such as the page URL and the approximate date of your visit) to help us respond.

CavyNest is a static website, and all of its interactive tools run entirely inside your own browser. To remember your preferences and entries between visits, the site uses your browser's localStorage, which keeps small pieces of text on your device. We do not operate a server database that receives this information, and none of the following data is uploaded to CavyNest, sold by us, or otherwise transmitted to us:

• Language preference (your chosen display language: English, Chinese or Japanese)
• Favorites / bookmarks saved from our articles
• Weight records entered into the guinea-pig weight tracker
• Figures entered into the cost-of-care calculator
• Vitamin C supplement records entered into the vitamin C tracker

These items remain on your device only. They are not cookies, they are not sent automatically with web requests, and they cannot be read by another website. You can view, edit or erase them at any time through your browser settings (typically under "Site data" or "Local storage"), and clearing your browser data deletes them permanently. Uninstalling the browser or using its "clear all site data" function has the same effect.

A cookie is a small text file placed on your device to remember settings, measure traffic or support advertising. Our own pages generally rely on localStorage rather than first-party cookies. However, third-party services embedded on the site — principally the advertising services described below — may set and read their own cookies and similar technologies (such as device identifiers, pixel tags and local storage), subject to their own privacy policies. You can control cookies through your browser settings; most browsers let you refuse cookies or delete existing ones. Please note that blocking cookies may reduce the functionality of third-party features and may affect the way ads are displayed.

We display advertisements served by Google AdSense to help keep CavyNest free. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. In particular, Google's use of the DoubleClick DART cookie enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the internet.

Google and its partners may use advertising cookies, including the DART cookie, to provide personalized (interest-based) advertising and to measure advertising performance. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings at www.google.com/settings/ads. If you decline consent, only non-personalized ads may be served, or no ads may be served, in accordance with Google's then-current policies. Non-personalized ads are targeted based on page content and coarse location rather than your past behavior. You can withdraw or change your consent at any time using the consent / re-prompt options made available by the CMP.

Where applicable, Google AdSense is configured under Google's restricted data processing terms, and we do not permit personalized advertising for EEA users under the age of 16. Where local law sets a lower age for consent to personalized ads, Google's CMP applies the relevant minimum age. We do not knowingly provide Google with information that identifies an individual child.

We may use limited traffic-analysis features to understand which articles and tools are useful. At present, any such analysis is limited to statistics made available through the AdSense / Google advertising services described above; we have not deployed a separate, standalone analytics product. If we enable a third-party analytics provider in the future, that provider may use cookies or similar technologies to collect standard log information (such as browser type, device type, referring pages and country-level location), and we will update this section and, where required, seek consent. We do not merge analytics data with information that identifies you by name or email.

EEA, UK and Switzerland — GDPR and UK GDPR

Because advertising services may process personal data (such as cookie identifiers and IP addresses) when you visit, you have the following rights:

• Access: obtain confirmation of processing and a copy of personal data concerning you
• Rectification: correct inaccurate or incomplete data
• Erasure ("right to be forgotten"): have personal data deleted in the circumstances set by law
• Restriction of processing: limit how your data is used in certain cases
• Data portability: receive your data in a structured, commonly used format
• Objection: object to processing based on legitimate interests or to direct marketing

California, USA — CCPA/CPRA

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

• Know: what categories of personal information are collected, and how they are used and shared
• Delete: request deletion of personal information we have collected about you, subject to exceptions
• Opt out of sale/sharing: opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising
• Non-discrimination: not receive discriminatory treatment for exercising your CCPA/CPRA rights

CavyNest itself does not sell personal information. Third-party advertising cookies on our pages may constitute a "sale" or "sharing" as those terms are defined under California law; you can opt out through Google Ads Settings, www.aboutads.info, and global privacy signals such as GPC, which our advertising setup honors through Google's policies.

Japan — Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI)

For users in Japan, in addition to the rights above, you may request notification of the purpose of use, disclosure, correction/addition/deletion of content, suspension of use, or cessation of provision to third parties of your retained personal data (requests for disclosure, etc. of retained personal data) within the scope provided by the Act on the Protection of Personal Information. China — Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL) Summary

For users in the People's Republic of China, the Personal Information Protection Law provides the rights to know and decide how your personal information is processed, to access, copy, correct and delete your personal information, to withdraw consent, and to request an explanation of our processing rules. Because CavyNest stores your tool data only in your browser and operates no user accounts, the quickest way to delete your data is to clear your browser's site data. CavyNest is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13 years of age (or under any higher digital age of consent that applies locally). We do not knowingly collect, maintain or use personal information from children under 13, and we do not allow interest-based advertising directed at children. Google-served ads are configured so that they are not child-directed. If you believe a child has provided us with information through a tool or by email, please contact zjp133@outlook.com and we will delete it promptly. Parents or guardians with questions about data associated with their child's device should also review Google's family and advertising settings.

Our articles may link to third-party websites, such as veterinary clinics, retailers, reference sources, and government or non-profit pages. We are not responsible for the privacy practices, content or policies of those sites. Visiting an external website is governed by its own privacy policy and terms; we encourage you to read them before submitting any information there.

Because CavyNest has no accounts and stores your tool entries only in localStorage on your own device, we do not hold a central database of your name, contacts or records that could be breached on our servers. Messages sent to our contact email are retained only as long as necessary to reply and to keep a normal business record, and access is limited to the site operator. Information processed by Google and other third parties is protected according to their own security measures and retention schedules, which are described in their respective privacy policies.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the site, technology, advertising requirements or applicable law. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Changes take effect when the updated policy is posted. Your continued use of CavyNest after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy, so please review this page periodically.
